Emergency Care
A pet emergency is a potentially life-threatening situation that requires immediate attention from a veterinarian or emergency facility. If you suspect your pet is experiencing an emergency, it is important to seek veterinary care as soon as possible.
- Respiratory Distress: Any change in breathing (gradual or acute) can be a sign of a major threat to your furry friend’s health and requires immediate assessment and support from a veterinary professional. This can include choking, difficulty breathing, severe gasping
- Gastrointestinal Upset: can range from retching vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, anorexia, and lethargy. Persistent GI signs or suspicion of foreign body ingestion is considered an emergency.
- Seizures
- Trauma: can range from lacerations, bleeding wounds, broken bones, traffic accidents (hit by car), falls and others.
- Toxicities: this can be due to ingestion or contact such as snakebites
- Urinary Issues: can be characterized by straining or inability to urinate.
- Pain: Sudden, progressive and/or Extreme kind of pain.
- Allergic Reactions
If you are unsure whether your pet’s condition is an emergency, you can contact your veterinarian or the GGVC HelpLine at (661) 603-1771.

Urgent Care
Veterinary urgent care is designed to treat acute, non-life-threatening conditions. Pets in stable condition that can’t wait to get an appointment with the pet’s regular veterinarian may be seen as an urgent care case at our hospital. Having an appointment eliminates the need to wait at a busy emergency room when your pet is uncomfortable, but stable.
*** If unsure of your pet’s status or needing an appointment , call the GGVC HelpLine at (661) 603-1771.

Critical Care
Focuses on animals who are experiencing a serious medical situation that can potentially be assisted for the best chance at survival. This may include continued hospitalization after a life-threatening emergency or invasive procedures such as surgery.

In-House Laboratory
We are very proud of our laboratory. We are able to perform many diagnostic tests quickly and efficiently in it. We can do many simple tests but are also able to offer some more complex ones, too!
The best part of being able to run laboratory tests in our hospital is that we can diagnose your pets much sooner than if we had to send the blood work out to another laboratory. Whenever your pets are not feeling well, we can offer you results and a diagnosis in minutes instead of making you wait a day (or more) for the results.

Advanced Digital X-rays
At Greater Good Veterinary Care in Lancaster, CA , we are proud to be on the cutting edge of medical technology. Radiology is a technique and diagnostic tool that we use to look inside the body in an entirely non-invasive way.
In other words, the use of radiology gives us a view of the internal organs in your pets’ body that we otherwise could not see. It is a valuable diagnostic tool that helps veterinarians detect and prevent illness.

Ultrasound
Performing an ultrasound is a quick and painless procedure. It uses sound waves to allow us to see inside your pets, without using the harmful radiation produced when we take x-rays.
We are pleased to be able to offer ultrasounds, along with all of our other diagnostic tools, to help your sick pets start to feel better soon. The quicker we can find the problem, the sooner your pets will be back to their normal selves.

Our veterinary hospital understands the critical role oxygen plays in the well-being of your cherished pets. In situations where breathing difficulties arise due to various health issues, our dedicated team is equipped with state-of-the-art oxygen therapy solutions. We provide a comfortable and controlled environment to optimize oxygen intake, ensuring your pet receives the care they deserve.

At our veterinary hospital, we prioritize the comprehensive care of your pets, and that includes vigilant monitoring of vital signs. Our advanced monitoring systems allow us to track crucial indicators such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature.
